I'm a huge sucker for crate engine, most likely because as far as I'm aware, at least in Spain it's very hard to get your hands on one so I like to imagine where I would put these sexy beasts into.
Maybe a Ford Ka? Or Autozam AZ-1 (won't fit most likely), Fiat 500...
I just wish they made a 1.0 Ecoboost crate engine though!
So question goes, where would you stick this engine into?

Caterham is the first thing that comes to my mind.
You guys also have lots of Fiestas over in Europe, i'm sure it would fit in a mid 2000's Fiesta.
It could also be pretty beastly in something like a 1st generation Elise or an MGF.

Also, only $8k? I thought it'd be more. Very nice.

Get two, combine into 4L I8, and make a 1930's styled long hood for a more contemporary car. Say.. a seventh gen Thunderbird.

Ford Fusion. The European mid '00s tall Fiesta Fusion. I can't imagine the look on an average boy racer's face when he sees this car for the elderly move this fast.

Engine package weight on it is 475lb. Even counting that some of that is excess weight, that's still heavier than a Thriftpower six, oddly enough. (385lb dry weight).

Have to go with Mustang for what's the next shitty rental fleet car for 1000, Pat?

But still, even on its best day, the Thrift6 wouldn't be able to match it for power.

Fox body mustang or a no options SN95 just to mess with people at car meets.

In a Ford Anglia. The 1.0L would be more appropriate but if your gonna build it may aswell go overkill.

stick it in one of these with an exocage and full width axles and 37" tires.

Very true. I'm mostly prevaricating on what is/isn't a bolt-on swap in terms of what the frame and suspension can take. The turbo 2.0, with intercooler, everything else considered, is much closer in weight class to the 260 V8 than the six, which means those expecting a power increase without (swapping into a Six) tipping the scales any heavier and swamping the nose would be better off with a smaller ecoboost yet. Which is silly.
The Falcon Sprint and Mustang V8 have a reworked suspension and overall setup for the extra weight, which is well worth noting.

I thought of Caterham as well but they already have a factory fitted 2 liter Ford Duratec in the lineup.

I'm sure with a couple simple bolt ons, this engine could be made to shame the V8. As it turns out, technology IS the replacement for displacement.

Man, it would be so cool it would be ridiculous. Then stick some stiffer suspension, rollcage, sticky tires and some Volk TE37's and holy shit you got the best car on the planet! Like this! Even the colour is so perfect!

Oh yes. I'll take mine red tough, just like my avatar.

Well, but I consider a swap into a 260 or 289 Mustang rather dull. If you're taking the more mild-mannered, smooth Mustang Six and swapping it to something that's still smooth but can also scream (like our test subject here), I find that more interesting. Most neat if you can keep the look and even the sound fairly stock until you punch it. Hell, keep four-lugs and 14"s on it. The secretary car that bites back.

Oh wow didn't notice it was an AZ1! Red is very nice too, I'm not a big fan of yellow cars but that one is very sexy.

My wife's VW Rabbit. Yea yea I know, WRX, EVO, FiST, CLA45.... I don't like 2.0Ts in performance cars and will go big NA as long as I can. However, 2.0Ts get good gas mileage for their HP and make lots of low end torque which is key for highway driving. So that's where I'd want one.
